What we do
Penguin Boy prides itself in being a multi-disciplinary agency. We can create a corporate identity, produce a client’s stationery, their exhibition stands, annual report, campaign brand and then their website whilst advising them on on-line promotion through social networks. And through this we bring through our creative ideas and ability to apply diverse design styles to any project.
With over twenty years of experience creating and building brands, Penguin Boy has successfully established identities for new organisations and rebranded old ones.
We think it’s vital to think beyond the ‘logo’ – to see the logo in the context of the wider visual identity which needs to be created in a consistent way to make a successful brand. We look at how the identity will work across a range of media and can help clients to plot strategies to launch and disseminate a new identity.
Design for Print
Design for print still plays a significant part in any organisation and a substantial part of our work is still producing contemporary design for print. With a flexible approach to design, we are successful in interpreting briefs using a range of styles and approaches.
We pay attention to the detail – whether it be the small print on the back of the brochure or the subtle nuances of a company brand, we like everything to be perfect when it’s produced.
We also have good, long-term relationships with printers across the UK who support us through this work.
‘Over a decade of working with Penguin Boy across a huge range of CHP book, branding and mixed-media projects, I have come to wonder if they ever has “off days”! Even when revisiting existing successful brands, Penguin Boy always brings a freshness and clarity to such projects, attending closely to the brief but also bringing their own suggestions to bear, very often to great effect. Creative, versatile, reliable and communicative – I am already looking forward to seeing how the next project will turn out!’
Dr Thomas Allain-Chapman, Publishing Manager, The Archbishops’ Council of the Church of England
Over the past five years we have been expanding a portfolio of book design for a number of publishes in the UK and abroad. Bringing the creative flair of a background in art to the creative challenges of realising a cover design is something we’ve relished. We’ve tackled every brief as a truly unique project which needs to incorporate an originality and clarity to communicate in a crowded marketplace.
For many of the projects we have done, we have created both cover and designs for the internal pages of a book – creating a visual consistency and bringing creative ideas through the entirety of the final product.
We really do love book design and are eager to share that enthusiasm on every project we do.
Penguin Boy are the best kind of designers. They always listen well and ask good questions about a brief, and I can rely on them to come up with creative solutions and options to consider. Nothing is ever too much trouble, however complicated the project – they always goes the extra mile and are a pleasure to work with’

We believe that there are several critical elements to creating a successful website – from creating a clear consistent identity, an eye catching design, a well thought out structure and a clear user journey. We take clients through a process of identifying aims for a new site, looking at key content and functionality, producing a site plan, wire-framing key sections of the site and then looking at concepts for the look and feel of the site.
We also design our sites as completely responsive – websites which looks great on smartphone, tablet and desktop devices. We’re also experienced in dealing with very different website projects and are used to producing attractive and effective content managed web solutions both large and small.
We are very interested in the wider context of what we design in effectively achieving the goals of our clients. No matter how nicely designed marketing or promotional material is it’s the overall strategy of a project which will factor in it’s success.
We can provide an objective outside voice in project planning – to help clients compose a cohesive and comprehensive strategy which is realistic and deliverable. We can help clarify realistic goals and objectives for a project or advise on the most efficient ways to achieve specific goals. We can help clients put together budgets which maximise on the most effective communication tools for what they are trying to achieve. We can also come alongside organisations in the middle of a project to help them modify what they are doing as well as evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of a current campaign or existing website.
