A new website for Birmingham Churches Together

A new website for Birmingham Churches Together

Birmingham Churches Together have just launched their new website which was designed and created by us at Penguin Boy. The website marked a strategic repositioning of the organisation which supports churches across Birmingham and surrounding areas. Recognising one of their core roles as disseminating information across their networks, the news and events sections became central to the site. It also uses tags of their key strategic focus areas to navigate users to the content they are interested in.

As part of this work we are also supporting Birmingham Churches Together in setting up a more efficient Customer Relationship Management process – streamlining their processes and integrating their digital communications, including their well-subscribed e-newsletters.

You can see the website by going to https://www.birminghamchurches.org.uk and other examples of websites we’ve created in our portfolio.

Launch of new website for All Saints

Launch of new website for All Saints

We have recently completed and launched a new website for All Saints Centre for Mission and Ministry, a theological college in the North West of England. Having worked with them through rebranding the organisation, we moved on to rolling out the brand across print and digital media, including the new website. We worked hard to create an engaging site with clear pathways to essential content for their different audience groups, making sure the site was an easy and positive experience on mobile, tablet and desktop.

Live Lent: Care for God’s Creation books for 2020

We have designed the books for the Church of England’s Lent campaign, Live Lent: Care for God’s Creation. Two books, one for children and the other for adults, contains daily reflections for Lent. We have worked on the the Live Lent project for several years and have enjoyed creating new approaches for each edition, this being one of our favourites.

You can find out more about the project on the Church of England’s website https://www.churchofengland.org/livelent

#Follow the Star campaign for Christmas 2019

#Follow the Star campaign for Christmas 2019

We were involved with the most recent Christmas campaign for the Church of England, #Follow the Star: 12 Days of Christmas Wonder, working on the campaign design, book and associated marketing publicity. The book gave reflections for each of the 12 days of Christmas, starting with Christmas Day and ending on 5 January and was accompanied by an app and on-line material based on our designs. The campaign was launched by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace in December and the materials were used in churches across the UK.

2018 saw us work with the Church of England on a series of exciting campaigns #livelent #followthestar #greatvocationsconversation (pictured) and the forthcoming campaign for Lent and Easter #LentPilgrim and #EasterPilgrim. It’s been fantastic working with the team at Church House, seeing the books we designed in print and then watching as the digital campaigns around them take off.

It included us seeing our book for #followthestar turn up on TV being held up by an MP in the House of Commons as a positive initiative for Christmas and the #livelent campaign winning some awards for it’s co-ordinated digital campaign.

“Last, but by no means least, thanks and plaudits are also due to the consistently brilliant Richard Pearson at PenguinBoy, who has come up with so many great designs and dealt with some challenging schedules to help ensure CHP plays such a positive and full role in the work of the C of E.”

Deaf Blind UK #reviewof2018

We started work with Deaf Blind UK, an established national charity supporting people with sight and hearing loss, designing and building their new website. Focusing on the needs of their users, we developed an accessible website with clear layouts and a UX which provides effective signposting to content across the site.

BH Painters and Decorators #reviewof2018

BH Painters and Decorators #reviewof2018

We came alongside a high quality interior decorating company, BH Painters and Decorators, to create a new brand identity for the company. Bradley, the owner, wanted us to focus on creating a brand which reflected their modern approach to the trade, the high-quality work they do and a the personal service they give to customers. The end result, including a silhouette of the owner, is intended to be used in a series of bold contrasting colours to represent their vibrant and forward-thinking approach to the trade. As we continue to work with the company we are looking forward to developing their identity on-line and in print. #reviewof2018

Adavu website #reviewof2018

Adavu website #reviewof2018

It was brilliant to be given the opportunity to work with Adavu, a charity who provide support for victims of modern slavery and raise awareness of the issue in the UK, to create a website to support the invaluable work they do.

The website is an example of our Charity & Community Website Package which provides a cost-effective solution for delivering quality websites using our own bespoke template design with customisable content, colours and structure. The website is responsively designed (so works across phone, tablet and desktop computers) and built like many of our sites using WordPress, a powerful content management system (CMS)

You can visit the website here https://www.adavu.org.uk If you’re a charity or a community organisation and would like to find out more about our specialised website solutions for your sector we would love to hear from you. #reviewof2018

Not just designers

Not just designers

We probably don’t shout about this as much as we should but we do a whole bunch of work connected to developing websites other than just the design and build:-

  • We do in-depth analysis of website analytics to report on the strengths and weaknesses of any website (not just the ones we’ve made).
  • We do effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) work to improve the profile of our clients on-line.
  • We do comprehensive reviews of User Experience (UX) of a site, analysing user journeys and reporting on what can be improved to increase sales and successful interaction with a site.
  • We do UX workshops to inform on the first stages of a new or redesigned website to make sure key objectives for the site are being addressed and weaknesses considered.

There is so much more to websites than picking colours, fonts and the right image for the home page. Interested in knowing more? Contact us.
